You may have heard in the press last weekend that Fred Olsens cruise ship the Braemar suffered a fire in the Engine room, causing the cruise to be cut short. Such a shame for the ship and of course for all the passengers on board. It must have been a very scary situation for all involved.
The ship arrived in Tenerife late on Tuesday afternoon to be met by Fred Olsen’s Managing Director and a team of staff from their head office in Ipswich. What a task they must of had to tell the passengers there holiday was being cut short and then of course arranging for flights back to the UK. From what we have heard Fred Olsen did a fantastic job, and what’s more they have offered all passengers a 100% refund for the entirety of the cruise (not just the portion affected), and a 50% discount on any new booking for a future cruise within their 2015 / 2016 programme.
The latest news from Fred Olsen is that the Braemar left Tenerife on Sunday 1st February and will arrive in Southampton on Friday ready to start her cruise the following day
Fred Olsen have always prided themselves on looking after their guests and I think how they handled this situation proves they really do.
Fred Olsen also offer an enjoyment policy. They are so confident that you will have a great cruise experience, that, if you haven’t cruised with Fred Olsen before, they will offer you their Enjoyment Promise. Simply book at least 12 weeks in advance on cruises of 5 nights or more (and less than 36 nights). If you find that the cruise is not for you within a day or two of stepping on board, they will arrange and pay for your flight back to the UK and repay the cost of your cruise.
