Titanic fan or not, would you go so far as to trust a ship full of suken ship enthusiasts in the middle of the cold, dark Atlantic Ocean?
The Balmoral is repeating history (only as far as the itinerary) for the 100th anniversary memorial cruise of the Titanic.
The ship itself, The Balmoral of Fred Olsen Cruise Line, whose parent company Harland and Wolff built the Titanic, comes close to the specifics of the ill-fated ship. Carrying the same number of passengers as the Titanic—1,309—and playing the music of and serving meals from the menus of that tragic voyage, The Balmoral cruise is destined to be a mellow affair…or so we’d hope.
Creep you out further, the itinerary will begin in Southampton and sail to Cobh, where the Titanic made it’s last port of call. Next stop is of course the ice fields of the North Atlantic, where the ship will stop at the approximate coordinations of the Titanics sinking in order to conduct a service at the approximate time when some 1500 people lost their lives. The cruise will then take passengers to Halifax in Nova Scotia, Canada, so they can visit cemeteries where some of the Titanic victims are buried. The trip will end in New York, where the Titanic was heading.
