New ships announced

RCCL newest addition to the Oasis class ships went underway today, seeing the first cut of steel in Saint Nazaire.  The Oasis class ships can take 5,400 passengers at double occupancy and are 225,000 tons. According to supplier reports a fourth Oasis order will be confirmed by next summer, to be followed by a fifth.  The new ship will be approximately 227,700 gross tonnage, and will be the world’s largest and most innovative cruise ship.  She is expected to be delivered mid 2016.


P&O have also announced that its new 141,000 tons cruise ship which is scheduled to enter service in spring 2015 will be named Britannia.  P&O believe the name “Britannia” fits in with its long and famous heritage, P&O remain Britain’s favourite cruise line.
