MSC Opera suffers Engine failure

The MSC opera carrying at least 65% British passengers is being towed through the Baltic Sea after suffering from massive power failure.

An explosion in the Engine room on May 13th left the 2000 passengers without power and very poor hygiene with the bathrooms inoperable.  On May 15th tugs were called to pull the ship to Visby where the vessel was due to arrive the following day, a team from MSC were sent out to Sweden to assist the passengers.

A report from one passenger stated that there was no electricity and no water, the corridors are dark and no air conditioning. MSC are issuing a credit voucher for all passengers affected on this cruise, to the value of the whole amount of the cruise to be taken by December 2012.

I am trying to find out what is happening for passengers due to depart the cruise tomorrow.  I will keep you updated on this.
