Dynamic Dining…….

The concept of Dynamic dining with Royal Caribbean was to allow guests to try a whole range of available restaurants without set booking times.  I have to admit I did wonder how this was going to work….  It does seem to be a testing time for Royal Caribbean too as one-minute Dynamic Dining is an option the next they have scrapped it!

Dynamic dining was to offer clients the flexibility to dine when and where they wanted on their newer ships, with a choice of 18 restaurants there really is something for everyone.  However, it seems that this is to be scrapped in favour of the traditional times of early and late dining in the main restaurants or the option of open dining over the four restaurants.

There will be new menus for all four of the main dining restaurants which are Silk, The Grand, Chic and American Icon which will host these new dining programmes.

Traditional dining with sittings at 6pm and 8.30pm will take place in The Grand and Chic whilst American Icon Grill and Silk will allow flexible dining for guests. –

So when is this happening?  The change will come into effect on November 27th 2016 and promises to be a flexible form of dining that still gives passengers the option of a main dining restaurant, in response to customer feedback.

Guests will of course still be able to book the speciality restaurants if they do not wish to dine in the four main dining venues.

So it seems that Royal Caribbean have actually listed to the feedback from guests as if it wasn’t working for a lot of clients.

It is slightly confusing though as back when it was launched in 2014 Royal made a big thing about the Dynamic dining being the future and how amazing it was going to be and now seemed to have changed their minds. It may have been that the choice and over complication with Dynamic classic and Dynamic choice was all just a bit too much for people to take in.

I think it’s great to have flexibility while cruising as each day of your trip can vary so much depending on itinerary and if you are getting off and doing lots of excursions and have had a very busy day you don’t want to rush to get ready for dinner and need that flexibility of going at your own choice.

At least this way having the traditional and flexible dining gives people the option to go with one that suits them and their needs.  Whatever you choose I can guarantee you one thing and that is that the food will be amazing.

I have been on several Royal Caribbean ships and they are one of my favourites when it comes to menu choice and quality – whatever time of the day you choose to eat.
