This is such a big market now as more and more familes are considering a cruise.
I remember when RCCL launched their first ship with an ice skating ring, when you could watch movies up on deck and when the FlowRider was introduced allowing surfing lessons in the pool. Now we expect all this and more, seperate clubs for kids and teens, child friendly dining, waterslides and so on. The great thing about cruising is the freedom it offers and, unlike a land-based resort, you know where your kids are 24 hours a day. The older children can roam around, meet new friends grab a bite to eat, hit the disco and show off there new moves all without leaving the ship.
Infants and toddlers: Many cruise lines have a minimum age from 12 weeks (Disney Cruise Line) to 6 months (Cunard, RCCL, P&O). Toddlers will need to be potty trained to use the swimming pools onboard, cruise lines can also supply travel cots and high chairs but these need to be requested at the time of booking. You will find that for infants to particpate in the clubs onboard they will need to be 1yr and above, some cruise lines offer a babysitting service as well and will be charged locally.
Actitivies and entertainment: Some cruise liners have up to five different age group actitivies while others have one or two. Actitivies range from face-painting , arts and crafts , games, Pizza making, storytelling, video arcade, Nitendo Wii, discos and so on.
Meals: You will find that all ships are adpatable with there menus, some cruise lines (NCL, RCCL) offer there own dining for children, so while you having a romantic meal for two your children are happely dining with their friends. What more could you ask for?
