So this year we had a fantastic opportunity to be invited to hold our annual Christmas conference aboard the Queen Mary 2. I really couldn’t wait to revisit this beautiful Cruise Liner. The last time I was on board was when she was launched in March 2003 I can remember when I first stepped on board the ship all those years ago, I was overwhelmed by her beauty and the history she holds, there really is something very special about her. Once again I felt the same, it’s hard to explain how you feel when you first step on board, she really is a grand ship. Hopefully these photos will do the talking.
You embark into the ship’s six-storey Grand Lobby, featuring a dramatic staircase, the Christmas decorations made it even more special.
Christmas Trees were scattered around the ship and then there was an amazing Gingerbread village.
The food in the main restaurant was lovely, and I really do mean that, there was plenty of choice, it was served hot and to perfection. I am aware that there are some reviews and also from the Welcome home calls I do that comments that the standard of food has slipped and feel that Cunard have taken cut backs with the food. My experience this weekend was far from that, and the general opinion from a lot of my colleagues felt the same.
I think my favourite part of the ship was the Grand Lobby, but what I also like is how proud Cunard are of their history and this is apparent in their artwork, taking you through nearly 175 years of History.
I have to admit I did find it difficult to navigate myself around the ship, I was forever trying to find a map of the ship to try and work out how to get to some areas, our cabin was situated on deck 5 at the front, so the walk from the cabin to the restaurant seemed to go on forever. I do think that when you are looking at booking cabin location could be important.
The Queen Mary 2 really does live up to the traditional style of cruising and most QM2 passengers are happy to oblige. I think it’s lovely to see people all dressed in their full formal wear.
I had a truly wonderful time and remains firmly on top of my favourite ship list.
