Columbus Part 3

This is my final blog on my trip on Cruise & Maritime’s Columbus and my overall thoughts. So like i said in an earlier blog i was unsure if i would like the ship or not however i really enjoyed my trip.

The ship is mid sized but has a very spacious feel to it, it never felt over crowded at all with lot’s of bars and areas to sit in, she retains a feel of intimacy and personal attention when compared with the ‘mega’ resort style cruising lines built today. The only time it felt busy and a bit crowded was in the buffet restaurant on the sea day, which is understandable. The atmosphere on board was lovely and there was a great mix or ages, however i would say the average age on board would normally be 40-50 plus.

The staff were excellent through out the ship, from the barmen to the waiters in the restaurants, i did not once receive any bad service. Our cabin steward was brilliant and very helpful, always on hand when we needed him.

The other good thing with Cruise and Maritime which is a big one i think is the value for money, the prices of their cruises are very reasonable but as people usually say ‘you get what you pay for’ well yes i agree and you do with this company too as they are 3* cruise line, so don’t go expecting 5* or a massive resort style ship, you get 3* but very good food, service and itineraries too! Another thing to mention when talking about good value for money is their ‘CMV Additions package’s’ which are your drinks package and also pre paid gratuities and with more and more people asking for cruises that are ‘All Inclusive’ i think they are excellent, starting from just £23pp per day.
