Following on from my last blog I thought it now time to open up a can of worms, some of you will do this, others would not dream of it, some of you will agree, some disagree but this is my opinion, lets here yours.
Towels left on Sunbeds-All day/ night.
Everyone likes to have a moan, it’s our way, especially us Brits but with the usual number 1 moan, the weather, not even getting into this summers top 10 moan league what has?
After a month or 2 of chatting to my customers on their return from their cruise I have been surprised how often the ‘towels on sunbed’ issue has been bought up. This is not so much on the cosmopolitan ships of Costa, MSC etc but our very own P&O, Royal Caribbean UK departures and a bit of Celebrity too, again UK departures.
Why do people leave towels on the sunbed and then not return for 3 or 4 hours? To make sure they get a bed when they return. The other way of looking at it is ‘to make sure others don’t get a bed’
Rude.
There has also been occasions where the evening entertainment such as Movie nights being based around the pool area have had guests standing all evening because towels are still on the chairs.
Rude.
I’m a stubborn, and sometimes confrontational person and would sling the towels if I was there, sure to result in an argument some 2 or 3 hours later but I believe I would be in the right so don’t argue with me, I will win.
So what’s the answer?
Staff policing would be a good start. The service on ships is fantastic but can they not see that the clients they are serving are leaned up against a wall, or sitting on the deck when there are chairs empty, bar of course the towel?
And you can’t argue with the staff, I can’t even argue with the staff because whether I am right or wrong, or whether you are right or wrong there will only be 1 winner, the captain of the ship as he shows you the exit to the ship, suitcase in hand.
Now with that kind of control surely a no towels on sunbed policy would be easy to police. I for 1 would welcome it and I am sure many of my client s would too.
You may notice that both photos show plenty of available chairs for others, so why reserve?
