Us British (the majority) really do not like the thought of tipping and really do not like the fact it is forced upon you and your onboard account, as a nation that is how we are, nothing wrong in it, it is just not in our culture.
So many of you will be horrified to hear that Princess are increasing their tip charge, and this is not a press re-release from earlier this year, it is in-fact a second increase in tips in 2016!!!
Is the service on Princess any better than it was earlier in the year/ last year etc?
Of course these things need to increase, those that do such a good job for us on our cruise have to battle with price increases in everyday life, but twice in a year!!
Personally I tip individuals, my cabin guy, waiter, regular barman.
Some cruise lines do not charge at all such as Thomson cruises, others like the Luxury cruise lines include it in the cost.
How do you think tips should be incorporated into your holiday?
So how’s it changing? The new rate will come in from December 15th, and will increase from $12.95 to $13.50 per person per day for all Interior, Oceanview and Balcony guests. Mini Suites and Suites used to pay the same amount, however this is also changing from $13.95 to $14.50 per person per day for Mini suites and $15.50 per person per day for the suites.
Princess have indicated that guests can prepay at the current rate up till November and those that have the gratuities as part of the promotion would not be affected.
What do you think? Is it unfair to put them up twice or even at all, or do you think this is a sign of the times?
Is it value for money?
Are you receiving good service on Princess cruises?
