Australia, Dubai and Marco Polo….Part 2

Following on from my blog and photos on Australia we then flew onto Dubai for a 2 night stay at The Atlantis, The Palm.

This turned out to be as amazing as I thought and hoped it would be, even though the cost was more than I would normally pay.

It cost us £400 per night for 2 adults and 2 children on a Half Board Basis but as we knew we would never go here for a weeks holiday but wanted the experience we were happy to pay the price. Incidentally, I pay £800 for a weeks holiday at a caravan park in Devon every summer for 8 of us.

So after a 13 hour flight from Melbourne we were met by an pre-bboked taxi and taken to the Palm, a 20 minute transfer. The hotel wowed us as soon as we arrived, at 6.30am. The staff were great, the room was huge and amazing and the view was top.

We were there for 2 days only so had no time to waste, we had a look around the hotel, went for breakfast and then made our way to the hotel’s amazing water park. As it turned out we spent both our days at the water park under the 27-degree constant heat.

The water park had about 5 big slides including 1 that went down very steeply and through a shark invested water tank, but for the family our favourite ride was the Lazy river with a mix of rapids and waves, we did this about 4 or 5 times and it was so big you could be on it for 45 minutes or so, there where different turns and tunnels you could take to experience different thrills, in fact, a sat nav was required.

The evening was spent at the Lost Aquarium, this was amazing and huge, a real crowd puller and a must see whern you go to Dubai. Click here for the photos.

With-in our Half Board package was a choice of 6 restaurants, we tried 2 of them over the 2 evenings and as expected the food was delicious, well presented and very filling.

Breakfast was just crazy, there was every type of food you could imagine for breakfast, bread, fruit, yogurts, buns, pancakes and waffles, meats, eggs, salads and when I mention these things I am talking 5, 10 different types of them. There was even a sweet stall!!! Full Chinese menu, Indian menu, it was like lunch.
