For some yes, for others no. Unfortunately, in recent months there have been a few reports of violence and unruly behaviour, a trend that seems to be on the rise.
Could this be to do with the all inclusive so common on cruise lines? Crazy as it sounds but you can wake up, go for breakfast and then straight to the bar as early as 10am, drink all day and all night and before you know it 16 hours has passed and you are worse for wear, and if you have it in you not only worse for wear but also a pain in the butt to your fellow passengers.
Most, if not all cruise ships actually have cells on their ships and are used, not for too long though, if you find yourself in 1 of these it is only to the nest port of call and then you are escorted off the ship with your luggage and that’s the end of your cruise, no matter where you are in the world.
There is plenty of security on board the ships, it is just that you tend not to see them but with more drinks being served and with the average age of a cruise passenger getting younger it may be time for more security, and more cells.
There has, in my opinion, been a decline in passenger behaviour, whether that be round the bars, in the clubs, by the pool or the attire worn when going for meals, there was a day when the ship staff would send passengers back to their rooms to dress accordingly, now that the policing of this has got less passengers feel they can get away with more and more things.
So, I feel the cruise lines need to set standards to the highest level again and get cruising back to the best, most comfortable and relaxing holiday out there.
