Are Carnival being racist?!!!

When I chat with my clients most of the time they share the same disgruntled opinion about tipping as I do.

As Brits we are not use to it, it is not in our nature and we have not been bought up tipping everyone but at least we are given the choice to tip or not to tip, and I find most of the time we do tip for good service.

Whilst on the fact we do tip I do find it strange that the tipping amounts vary so much.

For example P&O charge approx £4 ($6) per person per day, Princess charge $11.50 per person per day as do Cunard and Carnival and they are all owned by the same company!!! Why is there such a difference.

Have you noticed better service on some cruise ships compared to others?

Well Carnival cruises have just introduced a new tipping policy, it does not effect UK cruisers but does effect many other nationalities. Let me share with you a power point I have received.

So what do you think to my title, is this a form of racism? Is tipping compulsory with Carnival or Mandatory for us all?

What if an Italian books with a British agent? Do they still have the tips added without choice? Is this decided by residency or where the passport is issued from?

I am sure Carnival have just cracked open a can of worms.

Let me know what you think or if you have encountered this form of discrimination before in the holiday industry.
