As many of you have heard through very excited media and social reports Ant and Dec will be airing their Saturday Night Takeaway show live from P&O Britannia on the 2nd April 2016. What initially looks like a great PR stunt may actually turn out to a nightmare for P&O, with-in days of this announcement I have a family already looking to cancel and for a few valid reasons.
Any child on board will be most excited by this and the hype will be hot from the 1st day of boarding on the 27th March right up to the actual show, however as per P&O’s small print which i shall paste below not everyone will be able to see the show or use the pool on deck 16 for quite a few days.
I’m sure there will be a media circus on board too as well as some heavies keeping everyone away from the ‘stars’ of the show.
****P&O Statement****
We’ve got some exciting news… On Saturday 2 April 2016, Britannia will play host to the nation’s favourite entertainers, Ant and Dec, as their BAFTA award-winning ITV television programme, Saturday Night Takeaway, is aired live from the top deck of the P&O Cruises award-winning ship.
Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway is a live entertainment spectacular hosted by the popular duo that features stunts and comedy sketches, as well as celebrity appearances. At the 2015 BAFTA Television Awards it was named Best Entertainment Programme while Ant and Dec were awarded the Best Entertainment Performance title for the show.
Join us on board
You could be part of it all. On 27 March 2016, Britannia will set sail from Southampton for two weeks in the stunning Med on cruise B608. On 1 and 2 April, passengers on board will get to enjoy two days in Barcelona, as the final show of the series is broadcast live from the ship, giving passengers the chance to join in the fun and soak up the exciting atmosphere.
This is a fantastic and unique opportunity for passengers to watch Ant and Dec, and their celebrity guests on board, as they film the show. Due to the nature of the set there will be limited access to some pool areas while filming is taking place, and not all passengers will be able to be part of the live audience.
However read their small print, on their website this is very small print.
Please note: The ITV production team and equipment will be boarding in Southampton. En route from Southampton to Barcelona we will be constructing the stage for the show in the middle of the ship on deck 16. This means that one of the swimming pools (Riviera) in this area will be closed from Wednesday 30 March; from Friday 1 April it will be necessary to close the entire swimming pool area in the middle of the ship as we make our final preparations for the live broadcast, they will all open again on Sunday 3 April. Not all passengers will be able to be part of the live audience.
Having spoken to P&O this morning they have confirmed the passengers already booked can cancel free of charge or amend to another P&O cruise free of charge.
Are you on this cruise? Are you happy with what has happened?
