Another new ship for Southampton

With the excitement of having the Britannia and Anthem of the Seas sailing out of Southampton for 2015 we could be excused for thinking that is if for a year or 2.

Well Royal Caribbean have just announced that the Explorer of the Seas will also sail from Southampton for 2015 replacing the Adventure of the Seas.

For those that don’t know, The Explorer of the Seas is part of the Voyager Class ships and so is the Adventure of the Seas so the lay out, size and facilities are almost identical.

It is nice to have a change, we are getting 2 brand new ships to our shores, it’s nice to have something familiar too so I suppose the Explorer will be met with a positive thumbs up from most cruisers.

The Explorer Of the Seas was built in 2000, 1 year before the Adventure and is identical to the Adventure with 1557 cabins, a capacity of 3200 passengers and 1185 staff.

Explorer of the Seas is a stunning floating resort and is a huge RCI ship with lots of facilities. It has two lobbies up to 11 decks high and a 4 deck high promenade the length of two football fields. It has a 5 deck show lounge featuring Broadway style productions, music and cabaret.

Explorer of the Seas passengers tend to be All ages and Mostly American but more Brits/Europeans in Europe. When all cabins have double occupancy, the ship provides a space ratio of 44.3 tons per passenger and a crew to passenger ratio of one for every 2.6 passengers. At full capacity the space ratio is 35.9 tons per passenger and the crew ratio is one to 3.3 passengers.

She will be doing 3&8 night Northern European cruises, 11&14 night Med cruises, 14&16 night Italian Med cruises and 10&14 night North Africa and Canary cruises.

Like all the Royal Caribbean ships the Explorer has just had a make over so although fairly old will still look and feel WOW.
