It’s that time of year when everyone is looking for a last minute summer holiday deal, families of 4 looking for cabins that sold out 6 months ago, couples that are expecting the prices to go down the longer they wait whilst the airlines push the prices up the nearer the date becomes and then the poor single passengers that just wants to be given a price that is fair.
At the moment we are in-undated with single passenger requests and there are only a few cruise lines that are actually reducing their prices for singles.
Most of the time a single passenger will pay 75-100% single supplement!!! Absolutely barmy, why such a high supplement? The cruise line can take into account that this 1 person will be eating for 1 and not 75-100% of somebody else portion as well, although it does raise the thought, if you pay 100% supplement then demand to be served 2 meals every course.
P&O, Princess and Cunard are pretty good with last minute no supplement deals but you really have to wait until the last minute for this, no time getting excited and counting down your holiday, no weeks of bragging to your friends that you have booked a dream cruise.
Cruise and Maritime have some very good deals for singles and even better deals for couples through-out the summer, well worth looking at.
Cruise lines are listening to agents and passengers and are slowly adding single cabins to the new ships but nowhere near enough, these 4000 passenger cruise lines may have may be 20 single cabins at the most so are all booked as soon as they go on sale.
Come on cruise lines, these single passengers were travelling with you years ago with their dearly departed and deserve some consideration now.
Are you struggling to cruise due to being single? Have you found a formula to finding a deal? What do you think to it all?
