Is there such a thing as a safe holiday?

After the recent tragic events in Tunisia and Bangkok, the regular attacks in France, migrant issues in our tunnels is cruising free from attacks?

With the high level of security to not only get into the ports/ docks but then even higher security checks to get onto a ship I would say yes to my question.

To make things saver still cruise lines are also putting a stop to certain ports of call, Tunis being an obvious one, recently however Costa cruises have now stopped calling in at Istanbul and Izmir!!

The changes to Costa will affect three ships in there fleet, Costa Pacifica, Deliziosa and NeoClassica, with hindsightt this maybe the right move for Costa, another problem on one of their ships could be disastrous for them. Some of my customers already say anything but Cosat, which is a shame as they are a great cruise line with some great ships.

Stopping Istanbul could be a big blow for lots of cruisers as many ships use Istanbul not only as a big feature in their itineraries but also the start and finish point of many cruises.

Not only is Istanbul a great place to visit from a cultural point of view it also has some of the cheapest air flights with a scheduled airline, Turkish Air who recently came 4th in the ‘World Airlines Awards’ 2015. Not only that but Turkish air run regular routes from all over England with good flight times to meet cruises.

As well as Turkey there are also some Black Sea destinations being stopped too, these ports being replaced with some Greek islands and Malta.

When will this madness stop? How many more ports will be excluded before our world becomes safe again? Can you imagine jumping on a ship for a 10 night cruise and visiting maybe 2 ports!! lets hope it does not come to that.
