Cunard Flag ship gets some TLC, told you so. As well as single cabins!!!

Cunard's flagship Queen Mary 2 departs from New York with a theatrical light and music show after completing her 175th Anniversary tour, Tuesday, July 14, 2015. This month marks the 175th Anniversary of Cunard, and Queen Mary 2 has recreated the historic Transatlantic Crossing from Liverpool to Halifax and Boston made by the RMS Britannia in July 1840. Although not a port of call in the original crossing made by Britannia, New York has been Cunard's North American home port for over a century. (Photo by Diane Bondareff/AP Images for Cunard)

In December I went on Cunard’s Flag ship, The Queen Mary 2.

I had a great time with the company I was with but also the ship was very entertaining with it’s wide range of facilities.

However I did point out in this blog that it was looking a little run down in places which did surprise me as was only a month away from its World Cruise.

Well Cunard have just announced that she will be going into Dry Dock, Hamburg for 25 days to have upgrades implemented and some much needed refurbishment.

The refurbishments are said to refresh interior spaces for guests and launch new innovations designed to impress passengers.

During some research Cunard found that many passengers are travelling in ‘multi-generational’ groups, i.e Grandparent, grandchildren and parents and this often sees single passengers in the group so for the first time Cunard are putting in 15 ‘singles’ cabins, Hooray.

Now from experience these cabins will sell very quickly so if you are looking to make the most book quickly.

30 additional Britannia Club balcony staterooms will also be put in, with guests booking one of these staterooms they will be given the option to dine at a time that suits them in the new dedicated Britannia restaurant.

And for those animal lovers, QM already allows pets to travel with 12 kennels onboard, this sells out almost as soon as the cruise goes on sale so Cunard are adding another 10 Kennels.

I have sailed on QM2 once and loved her and I am sure i’ll love her new upgrades too – but what do you think? Would you prefer the classic QM2 as she is now, or do you welcome a bit of modernisation?
