When going on a cruise do you know everything you need to know about it before you step on board or do you prefer to wait and see what wonders lay ahead?
Years ago one of the great things about booking a holiday was the excitement of getting to your destination knowing very little about it and being thrilled by what greeted you, everyday, every room and by everyone. As a child I vividly remember how in awe I would be of my holiday destination.
Those days are now gone.
Before we book our cruise, during the booking process and right up to the day before embarkation we find ourselves on Google, Wikipedia and all our favourite social sites trying to find out as much as we possibly can. Before you get on board you have already visited the restaurants, watched a theatre show, taken a walk down the promenade and even had a go on the water-slides all thanks to virtual reality videos.
Does this ruin the fun, dampen expectations or does it help you time manage yourself for when you are on board?
What about the poor reviews? Should we pay attention to it or is this just someones opinion of something that was not right for them in the first place?
Quite often I find on Facebook posts about people asking for pictures of a particular cabin (you’ve booked it now, does it matter), what bar is best to drink at (have fun finding out yourself), what’s the service like in the restaurants (you’re going on a different cruise, different day, it won’t compare).
Personally I think it is a bit much but then that is me.
What do you think?
