Ship Visit season is back

A perk of being a cruise travel agent for such a well known company is that cruise lines want you to visit their ships.

Coming up for me over the next month is a visit to Cruise & Maritime’s Magellan, based at Tilsbury and P&O’s flag ship, Britannia.

Both I am looking forward to but with very different reasons.

With Cruise & Maritime there have been some very good deals recently and although the price has generally sold the product it would be nice for me to know a little more and the Cruise & Maritime product.

What I do know is that the Magellan is the flag ship of the fleet, an adult friendly ship with just over 700 cabins and can carry upto 1250 passengers.

One of my favourite things about cruising is the dining.

The maitre’d and his attentive waiting staff will welcome you to the elegant Waldorf or Kensington Restaurants where you can opt for a full English breakfast, savour a leisurely five-course lunch and enjoy a delightful dinner every day of your cruise. Whilst breakfasts and lunches are generally served in the restaurant on an open seating basis, two fixed time sittings are operated for dinner in the evening. As a casual alternative, the light and airy Raffles Bistro is open every day for buffet style breakfast, lunches and dinner. Here informality is the key and you can feel free to drop in without any ceremony. The Pool Deck lends itself particularly well to al fresco meals so a buffet breakfast or lunch from the Bistro can be served up with a complimentary ocean view!

Magellan offers a traditional maritime experience in spacious surroundings. It has a wide range of comfortable lounges and stylish leisure facilities to enrich your time on board. A two tier show lounge, 2 swimming pools on deck and 3 whirlpools.

All this info can be found on their website or brochure but when I get onboard I will be bringing it more to life with photos and some live blogging.

Now P&O Britannia will be offering something completely different. Mega size ship carrying over 3600 passengers, 11 dining areas, huge theatre, show lounges, comedy clubs, 8 bars, kids clubs and household chef names. So big and so much to see and do that i will actually be on her for 3 days just before her maiden voyage. Again I will be taking plenty of photos whilst onboard and blogging them to my Facebook page for all to see and enjoy.
