Cruise and Maritime currently have some of the oldest ships afloat, with the Marco Polo, Azores and the Astor and the additional of the Columbus next year, but old isn’t a bad thing, I must admit I am a fan of the old way of cruising. I am not too much of a fan of these mega ships such as the 220,000 gross tonnage Harmony of the Seas but as I say on a daily basis everyone is looking for different things.
She has been known as 11 different names in her lifetime so far and it’s not up yet as when she leaves C&M Voyages she will move to the French Cruise Line – Rivages du Monde. At 15,614 gross tonnages she is in the league of the small ships. She holds 554 guests and was ordered in 1944 so currently holds the title of the oldest cruise ship in the world.
She will stay in the Cruise and Maritime fleet till Spring 2017, with her last sailing being a h10-night Round Britain cruise. Guests wishing to say a final farewell will be able to take advantage of the buy one gets one free offer, free on board spend and offers on parking.
Have you been on the Astoria or maybe going on her before she leaves in the Spring?
