As some of you who know me may know I spend quite a bit of time in Southampton visiting the various ships as they call in. As useful as a brochure and the internet is there is nothing like seeing the ships up close and getting your of perception on them. Now back in May, Princess Cruises brought the Royal Princess back for her 2nd time in Southampton Waters, the last time she was in was for her Naming back in June 2013.
Royal Princess and the newly released Regal Princess are the largest ships currently sailing for Princess so its always exciting to see what they can do with the size and also as P&O Britannia is the same build it gives one an idea to her layout. Now today I am not going to do the usually long review but focus on one area of the ship. In the middle of the Lido Deck, Deck 16 you can find one of the most unique areas at sea, the ‘Sea View Bar’ and ‘Sea Walk’.
Starting with the ‘Sea View Bar’, this is an amazing place to come for pre-dinner drinks or for a tipple before bedtime but its not for the faint hearted, although because the bar is in the middle it doesn’t feel as if you are hanging out on the side of the ship so to speak.
My favourite side is the Starboard, and this is where you will find the ‘Sea Walk’, 16 decks high with a complete drop below. The middle of the ‘Sea Walk’ is cut out and the floor is partly glass so will you walk the walk?
Unfortunately this is something which is staying unique to Princess Cruises and Britannia will not have it, but it shows how modern-day technology in cruise ship design has evolved.
So would you walk the walk or pass on this one?
