Built in 1989 as a Russian Spy Vessel – Sold and Completed to Swan Hellenic in 1996 – Between 2003 and 2008 sailed under various names such as the Saga Pearl for Saga Cruises, Explorer II for Abercrombie & Kent and then Alexander Von Humboldt for the German owned Phoenix Reisen. It was announced that Swan Hellenic would acquire the original vessel in July 2007 and she was then sailing back under the Swan Hellenic banner in 2008.
