Seabourn to return after 15 years away!

Seabourn is one of the most luxurious cruise lines afloat, with small exclusive ships this means they can pretty much get anywhere in the world. It was announced that Seabourn Quest would have a upgrade and fitted to an Ice Class ship enabling Seabourn to base her in the Antarctica and Patagonia regions. Since then Silversea have also announced that the Silver Cloud would have the same Ice Class standard and also they would be moving her down to the Polar Regions.

This shows that guests that cruise with Seabourn and even Regent Seven Seas or Silversea don’t want the standard 7 days in the Med, they want the more adventurous routes such as the Amazon, the North Passage, the Far East and Russia and Australasia, but now after 15 years of being away Seabourn have announced that they will be returning back to Alaska in 2017.

Seabourn Sojourn will offer 11, 12 and 14 night itineraries from Vancouver and Anchorage. Seabourn Sojourn is currently the flagship in the Seabourn fleet, whether this will change when the new ships the fleet join in the next few years – Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Ovation is anyone’s guess. Weighing in at 32,346 Gross tons but only carrying 450 guests she is a fantastic size for anyone who wants that little bit extra, to give you a comparison the Oceania ships – Nautica, Regatta, Insignia and Sirena are slightly smaller at just over 30,000 gross ton but can carry up to 824 passengers when all berths are in use.

Seabourn Sojourn will of course cover the more popular and bigger ports such as Ketchikan and Juneau but also as she is a much smaller ship she can do Sitka, Klemtu a small tine island found in Alaska’s inside passenger and Alert Bay.

Guests can enjoy the Ultra All Inclusive experience with Seabourn with a twist on the normal – Caviar in the Surf to Caviar on the Ice deck party, they will also receive Seabourn branded All-weather jackets for the cold weather and a full enrichment program.

“Seabourn’s return to Alaska has been a long time coming and highly anticipated,” said John Delaney, Seabourn’s senior vice president, global marketing and sales. “We’re looking forward to sharing with our guests the highlights of Alaska, from the mountains and glaciers to the picturesque frontier towns and amazing wildlife. But they’ll also see an uncommon Alaska, a side that few visitors ever get to see.”

Sailing in Alaska will begin on June 1, 2017 and they are already on sale so what are you waiting for?
