Southampton is the busiest sea port in the UK, offering countless amounts of cruises over lots of different ships so from when you arrive at Southampton you want to start the holiday in Luxury.
Southampton has 4 cruise terminals, Ocean and City terminal which are the busiest of the four, and then the Mayflower and the QE11 Terminal.
Mayflower Terminal has recently had a major refit, and with Ocean and City terminal being up to date, the QE11 Terminal has been left out of the limelight.
However not for much longer, ABP Ports of Southampton and Carnival UK have joined up to pay £5 Million to revamp the old aging terminal this winter.
The first part of work to take place will be completed by Spring 2016 ready for the summer season which will upgrade the check in, baggage and x-ray areas, and installing a new large lift, the passenger drop of area will also be changed.
The second lot of work to be done in the winter of 2016 will be a new ship to shore walkway to replace the old one.
Nick Ridehalgh, ABP director in Southampton, said: “The number of cruise passengers coming through Southampton’s port continues to rise, with 1.75million expected to pass through this year.
“It’s therefore vital that we ensure our facilities are in the very best shape to accommodate these passengers and that they are laid out in a way that gives people a seamless and stress-free start to their holidays.”
ABP Ports is constantly investing money in to Southampton to make sure Southampton remains the main UK Port for cruise ships.
