Oasis of the Seas has spent the past two weeks in a dry dock whilst over in Europe having the renovations to bring her back up to date with the new Quantum Class. With Quantum of the Seas due to also launch later this month it’s a really exciting time for Royal Caribbean and that cruise world.
She will sail this evening from Rotterdam to Southampton before making the journey back across to America.
The biggest change on to be seen on Oasis will be the Dynamic Dining Concept, this is where there is no main dining room just a large select of restaurants to choice from. This is similar to Norwegian’s concept but Norwegian Cruise lines still have the main dining room option.
Personally I don’t know if it’s going to be as great as they make it out to be, on talking to different people it’s embraced by some but not all. The problem that a lot of past cruisers have with it is that, if you like a table for 8 on a second sitting, you can no longer do this. You will have to make a reservation in a restaurant and sit with different people each evening.
The Opus Dining room takes up 3 floors, and each floor will now have a difference restaurant.
Deck 3
Opus Dining room will be changed to American Icon Grill
Deck 4
Portside private dining to be changed to Izumi
Starboard dining to be changed to Diamond Club
Opus Dining room to be changed to The Grande
Deck 6
Opus Dining Room to be changed to Silk
But not only this majority of the shops on board are being changed to different brands, the biggest being the change from Focus to a Michael Kors shop.
But I have also noticed that a lot of areas are being changed to add in more accommodation, for example the restrooms on the Central Park have now been moved to a smaller structure and 4 new interior staterooms added.
Other new restaurants will include Izumi Hibachi and Sushi bar, Sabor Taqueria and Tequila Bar, Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine, Costal Kitchen and Offering avant garde dining.
Oasis will also feature the same internet speeds to be found on Quantum class, partnering with O3b to give guests land like interest speeds.
Allure of the Seas will follow in line for her refit in May 2015
