NCL have a Shake Up!

NCL Cruises have made some breath-taking new ships over the past few years and I think it has to be said they have really upped their game with the Breakaway and Breakaway Plus Classes. Norwegian Jade will always remain a firm favourite with the UK and European Market and the move to put her back in Southampton has proven to be a good decision, and not only does it mean that fans of this much-loved ship only need to get to Southampton, it also gives those that don’t want to fly the opportunity to sample a NCL Ship on a longer voyage. It has been recently announced that NCL will also keep NCL Jade in Southampton for her 2018 season as well.

NCL in 2017 has also made the move to put the NCL Getaway in Copenhagen, a strong move for NCL as they previously only cruised the Baltic’s on the NCL Star which although a popular ship, doesn’t offer the facilities that the Getaway does, hence meaning people that wouldn’t normally necessary do the Baltic’s – now will do to sample again a ship which has recently only been based in the United States.

This news also follows for 2018 and 2019 when we will see the Norwegian Escape, currently the most recent ship in the NCL fleet which launch in 2015 will leave its home port of Florida and be based out of New York offering guests seven night cruises to Bermuda, Canada and New England, Bahamas and Florida thought the 2018 and 2019 cruising season.

However, this leave a big question – what happens to the NCL Breakaway which has the hull art themed to New York! Having home ported out of New York since her launch in 2013, well she will head to Copenhagen to offer nine night cruises to Scandinavia and Russia, however her reason for leaving New York may not be to add variety to the Europe market but that, that she is due a refit so they are using that to put her somewhere new for a short space of time, as she will return back to New York for the winter season of 2018 to join the Escape doing seven night cruises.

2018 will also see Norwegian base the new Norwegian Bliss in Alaska sailing seven-night roundtrip Alaska cruises from Seattle, this will be her maiden season and where she will go after this is anyone-guess. She will start in June 2018.

Not forgetting one other lady – NCL Joy which is due to launch next year will be based in the Far East – nothing definitely for 2018/2109 yet but we imagine this is where she will stay for the time being.

So exciting times ahead for NCL – Are you doing NCL anytime soon?
