Merry Christmas and a Happy 2019!

In the blink of an eye and 2018 is gone! Someone once said the older you get the quicker the years go by and at the time, I did not think much of it, but how true it is.

Here we are at Christmas 2018! So, I wanted to take the opportunity to wish all my everybody a very Happy and Merry Christmas and a very Prosperous New Year, whatever 2019 has to bring.

My Plans are just a very quiet Christmas at home, although I’d much rather be spending it at sea. I know a fair few people are sailing the seven seas for Christmas and New Year – Are you going to be away for Christmas.

I don’t think you can quite beat the magic of being away over the festive period, the Cruises lines all make such an effort with Christmas Decorations and Trees all over the place, I think my favourite dressed ships have the be Cunard – they really do push the boat out – Excuse the Pun!

What do you think – have you been away for Christmas? If you could go on any ship what would it be? And where would you go?

A rather unusual one for some, but on my list would be Norway – I think it would be so magically this time of year, Okay so it would be Cold, but you can wrap up, there is only so many layers you can take off in the sun. To call in all the little villages in Norway, and of course have a chance to see the Aurora Borealis, better known as the Northern Lights would be spectacular, and not forgetting the Reindeer.

Aurora does do the Baltic’s and has done for the past few years – not so much the Northern Lights and Norway she tends to do Oslo and Copenhagen which this time of year would have a fantastic atmosphere and she is a fantastic ship to do this on, as she also benefits from an undercover pool, so you can still use part of the deck, and the Jacuzzi will be on for anyone brave enough to take a dip and then the mad dash to get back in to the warm once you get out! Of course, you have all you norm in terms of amazing food and dazzling entertainment venues.

If you wanted to do the Northern Lights this time of year, another fantastic line to try is Hurtigruten, more unknown of the many cruise lines but the addition of new and larger modern ships are getting there name out there. Hurtigruten offer guests the slice of real Norway, a Classic Round Voyage for 12 nights calls at 36 ports, so you have less time in the ports but see more places. They are more expedition styled so the ships and entertainment are more basic, but the food is amazing as quite a bit is locally sourced. Have you been on Hurtigruten? Or perhaps you would consider?

Whatever it is you are doing, have a very Merry Time and Enjoy – It will be over in the blink of an eye!
