Meet the new addition to the Silver Seas fleet, She is the second explorer ship to join the fleet along with the Silver Explorer formally known as the Prince Albert.
The Silver Galapagos is the newest addition to the Ultra-Luxury cruise line. The Silver Galapagos will have a maximum capacity of 100 guests. All accommodation will be Ocean View so you can make the most of the location you are in even from within your stateroom, most with private balconies and all have professional butlers.
The Silver Galapagos is as the name suggests, a ship purely to serve the Galapagos Islands, and I myself cannot stress what a fantastic addition this is the Cruise Industry.
The Galapagos Islands are located in the Eastern Pacific Ocean off the West coast of South America.
They consists of 3 smaller Islands, 18 larger Islands and 107 rocks and islets.
In 1978 Unesco recognised the Islands as a World Heritage site and in 1985, as a biosphere reserve and later extended to include the Marine reserve. In 1986, the 70,000 Square kilometres of ocean surrounding the Islands were declared a marine reserve, second in size only to the Great Barrier reef in Australia. In 1990, the archipelago became a whale reserve.
We have so much choice when it comes to the larger ships where you can laze around all day and enjoy the more touristy ports but when it comes to the more specialist areas it becomes more difficult.
Recently David Attenborough has done an amazing series on the Galapagos Islands on Sky.
The Galapagos Islands are home to some amazing species that can only be seen here on Earth and boy are you in for a treat, why not go an see the Blue-footed booby or the Marine Iguana, maybe you might see the Galapagos Tortoise or the Galapagos Land Iguanas. These are truly fascinating creatures and what is it they say you only live once!
The Silver Galapagos offers 2 distinct 7 day itineraries in the Galapagos, featuring the islands of Santa Cruz, Genovesa, Espanola, Floreana and Fernandina.
If you want to experience something special and see these amazing creatures and sights of the Galapagos Islands have to offer, why wait after all with global warming and the more land being lost to the sea who knows how long we have to experience one of the most unique places in the World.
