Lady G to move to pastures new!
Royal Caribbean Cruises has announced that the Grandeur of the Seas will be leaving the Royal Caribbean Fleet in 2021.
The Grandeur or ‘Lady G’ as she is affectionately known as, has been based out of Baltimore for the past couple of years and has a strong following so the decision to move the ship out of the Royal Caribbean Fleet has not been an easy move to make.
This comes in recently months, as we have seen the Oriana leave the P&O Fleet, the announcement of the MS Princesendam leaving the Holland America Fleet, Saga Sapphire which is set to leave in 2020 and news that Marella will be in the not to distant future be retiring the Marella Celebration and the Marella Dream.
I find these moves rather disappointing, It’s amazing what ships can offer us today when you look at the likes of the Oasis Class, or the Edge Class and even the Seaside Class for MSC but I must say I do prefer a smaller ship, I am not one for all the facilities that the big ships offer and love the Charm you find on the older vessels, it almost takes you back in time to a much loved bygone era.
Grandeur of the Seas will leave in April 2021 and transfer to the Spainish Line – Pullmantur. Pullmantur are the Spanish Partners to Royal Caribbean, so it is not uncommon for them to retire the ships to Pullmantur as most of the ships are EX-Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Vessels, and also of recent years, Royal Caribbean have also moved ships to Marella.
So this now leaves just the Rhapsody of the Seas and the Vision of the Seas in the Royal Caribbean fleet under the Vision Class as not to long ago they lost the Splendour and the Legend of the Seas as they went to Marella as the Marella Discovery 1 and 2.
Marella have said that the Celebration and the Dream will be leaving the Marella Fleet in the not to distant future so could perhaps we see 4 Discovery Class vessels for Marella?

This is one of my favourite ships and I have cruised on her a few times, I will be sorry to see her go!
Being Fans of Marella, for several years. ( we like the smaller ships ). We will be sorry to see them make the move to larger ships. However so long as they maintain their very high standard of service, and entertainment, we will not be jumping ship.
With all the mid size ships gradually going also like Oriana with P&O being replaced with huge vessels These big ships will not be able to moor at a lot of destinations also cabins are smaller also smaller balconies We prefer the midsize like Arcadia Aurora and no bigger than Ventura and Azura We also like adult only and This concept will not be on the huge ships being built now
Am sorry too as prefer smaller ships and cruise more with Marella now
