If you could cruise anywhere, where would it be? One of the places on the top of my list is the Galapagos. The Galapagos Islands is one of the most unique places in the world, home to many plants and animals that can only be found here.
Celebrity currently have the Celebrity Xpedition. The smallest in the Celebrity fleet covering just four decks and a total passenger capacity of just 100 guests. At 2,842 she is the ultimate in Expedition cruising. All accommodation on board is Ocean View and will receive all the standard Celebrity Amenities, however the Galapagos as well as being one of the most unique places on the planet, is one of the most expensive places on the planet to cruise as it is in such demand.
Royal Caribbean International, Parent company to Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises has acquired two new ships from the local tour operator Ocean Adventures. The ships are due to join the fleet as early as spring 2016 but Celebrity has promised all passengers booked with Ocean Adventure can keep their remaining bookings and all costs and charges will be honoured, no matter the sail date.
This is such exciting news as I would rather sail with Celebrity than I would Ocean Adventure, having been on Celebrity myself I know exactly what to expect and how well I am going to be looked after.
In January 2017, the first ship – Athala II, a small 16 passenger Catamaran and the second – Eclipse, (coincidence that she holds the same name as one of the most popular ships currently sailing from Southampton) which is a slightly larger 48 passenger cruise ship will both undergo a full refit and join the Celebrity Xpedition.
In the refit she will have all the Celebrity Branding added as well as new equipment but Celebrity will also offer an expanded lists of destinations such as Darwin Bay, Puerto Villamil and Black Turtle Cove. They will also offer new packages and hotel stays on the Galapagos Islands, something that Celebrity hasn’t done before. More details to come out soon.
Could you be tempted to the Galapagos, now is good of a time as ever, remember life is short so embrace these chances whilst we have them!
