Big movements in the world of Luxury Cruising!
Silversea are on of my favourite cruise lines, there motto is sailing on Silversea is like coming home, and it is, they have a real homey feeling them, although you still have the 6* Luxury feel. I do think sometimes, too much can be too much and you can have to much Versace!
I loved getting on board and just seeing groups of families chilling out, in the little lounges dotted around, the staff ratio is pretty much 1 to 1 so the service you get is expectational.
So I am very excited to hear that they are on the build again, as they have recently released the Silver Muse, and the Silver Moon comes out next year, but they will have a 3rd Sister – the Silver Dawn!
For those wanting to go you have a bit of a wait as her maiden voyage will be in September 2021 but you will not have far to go as she will have five itineraries based in the Med before her transatlantic crossing to Fort Lauderdale.
If you want to get on board you can go from Rome to Venice, or Venice to Athens, Athens to Barcelona, Barcelona to Lisbon and finally Lisbon to Fort Lauderdale so those with deep pockets could do the ultimate 6 weeks on board.
The Silver Dawn will be almost identical to her sisters the Silver Muse and Moon and hold a very intimate 596 guests in pure all Inclusive Luxury!
This news come in close proximity to the big news that Viking Cruises will build two more ships, but these two will be very special as Viking venture into the world of Expedition Cruising. They will be called the Viking Octantis and the Viking Polaris. Both ships will be Polaris Class and carry just 378 guests and have Polar Class 6 Hull Specifications.
There are limited itineraries out at the moment, before the general sale in early 2020 but they will have been built for the Polar Regions in the Arctic and Antarctica although again you will need fairly deep pockets for these too with a 13 night cruise starting at around $15,000pp.
Rumour has it that they will feature submarines – Can see a bit of a similarity here to the new Scenic Eclipse which has just come out.
Are you tempted?
