On Wednesday 1st October I had the pleasure of visiting the MSC Magnifica whilst she was in Southampton. She is within the Musica Class which is the midsized ships sailing for the fleet. I have in the past travelled on the MSC Opera and Poesia and although they are great for what they do, they do leave a little to be desired for. However saying that the Licra class that the Opera sails under are all currently in the process of 1 by 1 being cut in half, stretched with a middle piece being added and then put back together, after this process the ships will be much longer and fully refitted.
The largest ships in the fleet sail under the Fantasia Class, ships such as the Splendida and the Fantasia are ships within this class, on the Fantasia class you will also find the Yacht Club which is similar to the Grills area’s on Cunard.
Anyway enough of that, MSC Magnifica is currently doing a short spell out of Southampton sailing 7 night Northern Europe cruises, I had always wanted to see what MSC would do with a bigger ship and they certainly did not disappoint.
I must say from the inside and out she is simple stunning, I never thought I would say this but there are a lot of similarities between MSC and Celebrity, Okay the food on MSC is not as good as Celebrity and the Entertainment is more European but other than that the finish of the Magnifica is beautiful.
However there was one part of the ship that stood out for me most of all, The Theatre.
Its all in a light green, MSC are very flamboyant so to have a purple atrium and a green theatre, although it sounds wrong it really does work. The use of high ceilings and star effect lights are well used in here. Bear in mind this is the pictures with the main lights on to, so picture yourself in here with them dimmed. Stunning.
I would also say that when ships are in port its common knowledge that the Air Con is not as good as when the ship is sailing but again on the Magnifica it was cool but not cold, not once did you feel stuffy as I have on many offer ship visits in Southampton.
I will follow this up with a full review on the ship very soon.
Have you got a favourite area on a ship that you think is better? Let me know would love to hear from you.
