Silver Cloud to mingle with the Polar Bears!

SilverCloud

Silversea have recently made the announcement that Silver Cloud will become the lines fourth luxury Expedition ship in the fleet, I must admit I was blown away when I was on board the Silver Cloud, and I have been so fortunate enough to see Regent, Hapag Lloyd and Seabourn and of course it will vary in what you are looking for to which line suits you most but of them all Silversea has remained a strong favourite.

There ships are very homey and not over the top, although it’s a ultra-luxury brand, it’s a different type, very low key, and after all, there motto sailing with Silver Sea is like coming home and it most certainly is.

Due to start in August 2017, the current passenger capacity of 296 passenger will be cut down to 260 making an already exclusive ship more exclusive ship and then on the Arctic and Antarctic Itinerary’s she will only carry 200 guests, meaning the ship can land at a more extensive range of sites. On all non-polar itineraries and sailings she will carry 260 guest at full capacity, not a scratch on Oasis of the Seas at 5,500 guests.

Anyway during the refit she will be converted into an Ice Class ship, joining the Silver Explorer, Silver Discoverer and Silver Galapagos as the fourth expedition ship in the fleet, she will also have a fleet of 18 Zodiac watercrafts for exploration as well as expedition staff, also on expedition cruises they will have destination lectures, photo presentations and complementary excursions.

All the current dining options will remain including the Relais and Chateaux restaurant (Le Champagne) on board the Silver Cloud.

Silversea won’t change much when on board so the Butlers will stay put, not a bad job is it! Complementary drinks throughout, a stocked in suite mini bar and complimentary Wi-Fi on all expedition sailings.

Of all the ships doing the Polar Regions, if I could drop everything and go Silver Cloud would be my best choice, after all every cloud has a silver lining!
