Princess Cruises to host ‘The Voice of the Ocean’

Princess Cruises have always been quite a young cruise line, and most similar to P&O I suppose you could compare then, they appeal to all markets no matter what age there is something to do and a ship or two for you, you just have to find your favourite.

I suppose my feeling for comparing P&O and Princess in the same cruise bracket is because most of the ships that sail under the P&O banner, Princess have identical sister, take Britannia for example, she is identical in shape minus a few bits and pieces to the Royal and Regal Princess, Ventura and Azura is the same as the Crown, Emerald, Ruby and Caribbean Princess, it does come on down through the fleets, however the décor on board is very different.

P&O host Concerts at Sea and Strictly Come Dancing, but Princess like to attract generally a younger market and with the announcement that the fans of ‘The Voice’ can experience this on-board it again is getting Princess out there.

So what’s it all about? Well Princess Cruises have partnered up with the popular BBC Show ‘The Voice’ to offer a Singing competition aboard a few selected cruise and who knows who will be in the audience?!

It will be named aptly ‘The Voice of the Ocean’ and guests on board will compete to win the show. The Program will debut on Regal Princess in October and then Royal and Caribbean Princess in November. The Ruby, Emerald, Golden, Island, Coral, Crown, Grand and Star Princess will also have this added between January and May 2016.

It will start off with Karaoke auditions and to include personal mentoring training sessions with some of the entertainers on boards, after which nine guests on board will be selected to perform in the Princess Theater on the last night of their cruise.

The Judge on board unfortunately won’t be famous Celebrity from the showbiz world however famous faces from your cruise itself so this could include the Captain of this ship. The finalists will be narrowed down to three finalists and be voted for by you the guests on board to see who gets the cut. The winner will receive a Trophy and ‘The Voice of the Ocean’ title and who knows if it goes down well there may be a cruise in which you are invited back on to, to hit for the title of the Ultimate Voice of the Ocean!

In-keeping with the theme of keeping guests busy on their cruise, Princess also announced a couple of months ago a partnership with the Discovery Channel for its North to Alaska Program. I must admit this is more for me than what the Voice of the Ocean would be but this shows how diverse Princess Cruise are becoming.

Will you be Cruising with Princess anytime soon?
