As many Oceania Fan’s out there will know, Oceania will take delivery of the newest ship in the Fleet, the Oceania Sirena. Although new to Oceania, she was formally the Ocean Princess from 2009 to 2016 also known as the Tahitian Princess from 2002 to 2009 and before this R Four from 1999 to 2002.
She is one of 8 sisters which was originally owned by Renaissance Cruises which shortly went bust after the building of the ships, and they were all sold off to different cruise lines, Azamara have the Quest and Journey, P&O have the Adonia which is soon to leave the P&O fleet, Princess have the Ocean and Coral Princess and Oceania have 3 which is the Insignia, Regatta and Nautica.
Although these are relatively odd ships, no money has been spared in the refurbishment so they feel new and of course immerse you in ultimate luxury as they are more exclusive and elegant vessels.
They really do have the feeling of the odd days of cruising, unlike some of the newer, bigger and more modern ships.
Oceania have worked with Jacques Pepin as the Executive Culinary Director since the lines start up about 11 Years ago. It has been announced that the daughter of Jacques Pepin, Claudine Pepin who is known as being a TV Host and Cookbook Author will be godmother to Oceania Sirena.
Following the naming of Sirena, Claudine Pepin, he father – Jacques Pepin and other family members will sail on the maiden voyage with cooking demonstrations and book signing throughout the voyage. This will not be the first time Claudine has been on Oceania as she has been onboard with her Father on annual cruises and helped to co-host special cooking demonstrations he has done.
“Claudine’s passion for food, wine, travel and deep family traditions make her the perfect choice for Sirena‘s godmother,” said Jason Montague, president and chief operating officer for Oceania Cruises. ” As we continue to expand upon our finest cuisine at sea offerings, we are excited to deepen our relationship with the Pépin family and absolutely thrilled to have Claudine serve as godmother for Sirena.”
