She’s on her way!

After last week saw the announcement from P&O that HM The Queen will indeed be naming the cruise lines newest ship, Britannia, she left her temporary home in Monfalcone and is now heading for the UK ready to take travel agents and press on a 2 night ‘practice run’ voyage before her first fare paying passengers board on 14th March.

Being a member of certain Cruise related groups and pages, I noticed people were tracking her progress and for us real cruise geeks, this can be quite exciting!

She’s spent the last few days cruising between 19 and 20 knots and is now positioned south of Spain heading towards Gibraltar.

Just on a side note – look at how many ships and boats are in that area all at the same time!!!

Britannia is the biggest ship ever built to cater mainly for the UK market and it came with much anticipation and excitement when The Queen was confirmed to be naming the ship in Southampton on 10th March in a ceremony I feel, much like her name, will be extremely fitting.

She’s been a popular choice since she went on sale with her maiden voyage selling out in record time (and crashing the P&O booking system for a period).

Being a British cruise line I think Britannia will continue to be popular choice for the UK cruise market and with the size of P&O’s loyal customer base, I think they’re onto a winner.

I’m hoping to take a mini cruise on her myself next year with the children and already excited and I haven’t even booked it yet!

Are you booked on Britannia or thinking of booking a cruise on her?  You can see come fantastic deals on Britannia here.  And if you do sail on her before me I want to hear all about and see your pictures too!

And now we can see where she is by her webcam which has just been switched on! Click here
