You may have heard the recent news that a man was rescued off the coast of Cuba by a Disney cruise ship. Turns out he is suspected of being an Anonymous member. And what’s more, he waged a computer attack on a children’s hospital!
Martin Gottesfeld and his wife made a distress call from a boat which was picked up by the Disney ship who then pulled him to safety.
Police have since connected Gottesfeld to an alleged attack on Boston Children’s Hospital in 2014. He appeared in court on Wednesday in the US on conspiracy charges.
If convicted he faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The hospital says it suffered massive damages costing $300,000 due to the attack, which was connected to the case of Justina Pelletier, a 16-year-old was who held against her will at a secure unit at the hospital.
The FBI says Gottesfeld and Anonymous are responsible for shutting down the hospital’s servers.
They also say he posted a video on YouTube which gave the public information about how to join the attack on the hospital!
Ms Pelletier was checked into the hospital in February 2013 with flu-like symptoms but was later diagnosed with Somatoform disorder, a psychological condition that causes sufferers to feel pain despite there being no physical cause.
As a result, she was held in a psychiatric ward for 16 months, and finally released in June 2014.
What a turn around! Thoughts?
