Crew members onboard Singapore-bound cruise ship, Super Star Gemini are being accused by the guests family of ‘foul play’ after a guest vanished.
The family claim that Raj Kumar Agarwal did not have the key to his cabin yet the ship authorities are claiming he must have gone overboard from his balcony.
Agarwal’s brother, Parveen Agarwal, wrote to Star Cruises stating the following; “We believe your crew has retained him (Raj Kumar) for some reason not known to us. He mentioned he had a fight with your crew members the same day. We believe there is some foul play.”
The ship authorities said they were investigating the allegation and while Star Cruises did not respond directly to the complaint of Agarwal being kept captive, the spokesperson replied, “Upon Super Star Gemini’s return to Singapore on 7 October, the Singapore Coast Guard also boarded the ship to conduct a further examination.”
Parveen has requested to see the CCTV footage from that night which the cruise line is claiming to be ‘blurred’ and are saying they can’t verify it. “We repeatedly asked for the footage but the Star Cruises authorities refused to give it to us,” Parveen says.
Star Cruises also claimed they reported the incident to the Marine Rescue Coordination Center in Malaysia for search and rescue operations. The family has lodged a complaint with Singapore Police.
What are your thoughts? Are the family right to be asking questions? Do you think foul play is involved? Is it possible the guest had probably had a few too many and that’s why he had a ‘fight’ with crew members and then did fall overboard? How do the family know he didn’t have his key to his cabin if they weren’t there? So many questions!
