We’ve now returned from our cruise on the beautiful Celebrity Eclipse and it was absolutely fantastic.
I hadn’t been on Eclipse for a few years and had sailed with other cruise lines like RCI, NCL, MSC Holland America but this cruise reminded me what makes Celebrity stand out from the rest. It’s the little things…
We arrived at the port of Southampton and parked the car. The luggage was taken from the boot of the car and loaded onto the vehicle that delivers it to the ship meaning we just had to stroll into the terminal and check in. Within 15 minutes of getting out of the car we were boarding the ship itself!
The itinerary was a Norwegian Fjords one and the ports and scenery were beautiful!
The food on Eclipse is outstanding (we ate in the buffet, the main dining room, Moonlight Sonata and Qsine) and if you’re due to sail on any of the Solstice Class ships, the speciality restaurant, Qsine, is well worth the cover charge. It’s a quirky, fun dining experience and we went twice – once with the children and once alone when they were at the dinner party arranged by the Kids Club (which is also fab for the kids!)
Here are some of the dishes we chose which were all really tasty!
Celebrity’s facilities for kids were pretty good. Aimee (aged 8) was extremely pleased to have her design chosen to be made into an actual ornament by the Glass Blowing team and it now has pride of place in the living room along with the drawing.
The weather wasn’t too great but like I said, it’s the little things… Every outdoor area had blankets available for use which came in extremely handy (and they were REALLY warm!)
Our cabin was a Concierge Balcony Stateroom and was perfect:
And in the evening, the sofa was turned into two beds for the little ones 🙂
The children also had much fun using the indoor pool during ‘family hours’ (it was a bit too cold to brave the outdoor one!)
As I said, the ship was beautiful, the food outstanding and the service impeccable but the scenery can’t be described in words so here are some pictures:
I have many, many photos and will, at some point in the next few days, upload them all to my Facebook page for you to have a look through.
We had an absolutely fantastic time and would definitely sail with Celebrity again. If you have any questions or would like any more details, please don’t hesitate to let me know 🙂
