Being a Vegetarian, I’ve almost always found the dining options on cruise ships to be exceptional with a huge and varied choice.
There have, however, been a couple of occasions when I’ve been disappointed.
I have sailed on a few ships and also attended many ship visits. But I have been very disappointed with two cruise lines vegetarian options; Princess and Oceania.
I’m not sure if with Oceania it was a case of them not being prepared (although they had been made aware that myself and the person with me were vegetarian) but we were presented with a bowl of spaghetti, chopped tomatoes and broccoli mixed in. Very bizarre.
The second time I went on an Oceania ship however, the vegetarian option was much better which makes me think that maybe they weren’t prepared the first time?
I was also a bit disappointed with Princess’ vegetarian option which was a ‘veggie burger’. When the waiter came and offered pepper to my fellow dining mates, I was asked if I’d like ketchup!
On all of the other ships I have been on the vegetarian options have been outstanding. Those cruise lines include Regent, P&O, Cunard, Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity.
What have been your experiences with dietary needs and requests on ships?
