Cruise.co.uk scoops two fantastic World Travel Awards

The prestigious World Travel Awards took place tonight at the beautiful La Cigale Hotel  in Doha and I was delighted to hear that Cruise.co.uk won two fantastic awards!

• World’s Leading Online Cruise Community

This is a fantastic achievement for the company although one that I believe is entirely deserved (and I’m not just saying that because I know that my bosses will be reading this as soon as I publish it)!

Having worked in the travel industry for 16 years now I’ve obviously worked for a few travel companies, one of whom was a very big fish!  However I can honestly say that working for Cruise.co.uk has made me realise how ‘ahead of the times’ they are.  Not just with regards to technology, but with knowing what the customer wants and needs and responding to that, as well as understanding how the travel industry needs to change to progress.

With the companies I worked for before it was all about booking cruises in large numbers and that was it.  Here we call you before you go to make sure you have your tickets and luggage labels.  We call you when you get back to make sure everything was OK and from the moment you first speak to us about the cruise you want to book, your personal cruise consultant will be with you every step of the way for any problems that may occur, (or even for just a bit of friendly hand holding if you’re unsure of something). No passing you off to an admin department or a customer service team or a ticketing team. It’s the same friendly person for the whole process, (anyone who’s called their bank or telephone company recently will know exactly how unusual this is in today’s call centre society).

Then there’s the award for the World’s Leading Online Community. Where else can you go for thousands of independent reviews, thousands of common, (and more unusual), questions answered, a cruise forum full of friendly and knowledgeable cruisers and a Facebook page with all the latest news, (as well as quite a bit of fun!)?
