How do you know if you have chosen the best cabin?

I get asked this question all the time!

What is the best cabin available? Where is the best location on the ship?
There is no right or wrong answer and sometimes it just boils down to personal choice.
If you are on a budget then inside cabins located at the front of the ship low down tends to be the most cost effective. If you suffer with sickness then best to avoid high up at the front because it tends to sway a lot more!

It also depends on the ship
I was on-board the Queen Mary 2 just before Christmas and my cabin was right at the front and a barely felt any movement because this ship was specifically built for the Atlantic crossings.

Middle is more convenient and is much more stable.
I cruised on Azamara to Iceland and Norway. Azamara is a small ship and because our cabin was in the middle I felt no movement even when the weather turned a little choppy one night.

If you are on a massive ship the decks are so long and walking from the front to the back can be a real hike!
Have a look at the deck plan before you book. What is above or below your cabin? Are you above the theatre where it could be noisy? Is there a bar directly above you?

Have a look at the reviews of the ship. There are some fantastic opinions that will make your choice a lot easier!
Look at your itinerary. If you have a balcony do you want some sun or do you prefer shade?
I recently returned from the Celebrity Eclipse and had the opportunity to visit a sky suite. Beautiful suite in a lovely location at the back of the ship. The balcony was completely shaded because the deck above had a big overhang. Further along the overhang finished and the sun was beaming on the balcony.

Check if your balcony has an obstructed view.

What is your prefered cabin?
Do you always book a particular cabin location?
Would love to hear your ideas
