When is the best time to book ?

The question I am asked on a regular basis is when is the best time to book to get the best deal.
It is a really difficult one to answer because cruise lines no longer have fixed brochure pricing and the offers and prices change all the time according to what level of availability there is.
If you are travelling as a family it is definitely best to book as early as possible because 3 and 4 berth cabins sell vert quickly for school holiday dates. Even if the cruise line does have last minute availability for lower prices it is unlikely to be available on family cabins. Also P&O, Princess and Cunard also control the amount of children they will take on board for each age group of their kids clubs. So even if there is lots of availability you may find you are unable to book if the child space has been closed.
January is traditionally a good time to book in the travel industry. Once Christmas is over and done with everyone starts thinking about their holiday plans so the cruise lines do bring out good deals to tempt us into making a booking.
Usually they offer booking incentives and the most popular offer at the moment are the free drinks packages.
They are excellent value for money and can make a huge saving for on board expenses as individual drinks prices can be very expensive.
I always buy a drinks package if it isn’t included so for me it would be better to book early and get a good deal with free drinks.
At the moment Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, MSC and Norwegian Cruise Line are all offering free drinks. There may also be other benefits to choose from depending on the type of cabin.
