Last weekend I went to the theatre to see Rock of Ages. For anyone who enjoys musicals I would definitely recommend this show it was fantastic.
The story line is weak but the music and good humour more than made up for it. The cast were very comical and the music and dancing was brilliant. Right from the beginning they got the audience going with singing and Mexican waves etc so when the show started everyone was in really high spirits, it is the first show I have been to where the whole audience were on their feet at the end of the show.
You don’t need to be into rock music to enjoy this show because it’s not my sort of music either but I would go and see it again just for pure entertainment.
The only problem we had on our day out was with cross country trains. I booked tickets on the website 2 days before but there was no option to print tickets at the station so I paid for special delivery postage to guarantee the tickets before 1pm the following day. Typically Royal Mail tried to deliver the tickets whilst I was out doing the school run and they returned my tickets to the sorting office with a note to say I could pick them up after 24 hours. This would be too late as I was going the following morning. I called the rail company fully expecting them to say I could just take my booking confirmation only to be told this isn’t valid and I would be charged again for new tickets. Working in the travel industry I found this to be completely ridiculous. After all you can travel round the world now days with an e-ticket or even just your booking reference number and not have any problem. You can even download your boarding passes onto smart phones to be scanned at the airports so why I had a problem getting on a 45 minute train journey from Leicester to Birmingham is beyond me.
So off I went into town the night before to the sorting office to queue for about half an hour to pick up my tickets. Luckily they were there so panic over.
Next time I will just purchase my tickets on the train so I don’t need to worry about tickets !!
