With the start of a new year comes a new year for more brand new cruise ships due to be launched.
This year we have a good mix of large and small ships so there will be something for everyone.
Here is a taste of what you can expect:
Majestic Princess
The latest addition to the Royal Class ships will debut in April 2017. This Majestic will complete a few European cruises before moving to its permanent base in Asia. Therefore if you want to trial this ship best to get booking now unless you are planning on a cruise in Asia. This ship will have balconies on all outside cabins and will have some of the best loved features such as movies under the stars. Princess will make changed to their usual style of cruising to suit the tastes of the Asian market . You will notice a different style of entertainment and a larger casino and shopping area. The quality of food will be as good with more oriental choices on the menu. The passenger capacity is 3560.
Norwegian Joy
This will be the second in the Breakaway Plus ships for Norwegian Cruise Line and will be the same size as Norwegian Escape. This ship is also built for the Asian market so it shows how important this area of the world is becoming for cruise lines. NCL offer freestyle dining which will continue on this ship. The entertainment is also likely to be adapted to suit the market place. This will debut in Spring 2017.
MSC Meraviglia
This will debut in May 2017 and will become the largest cruise ship in the world based on passenger capacity. The capacity is 4500 based on double occupancy or 5700 maximum. I am really excited to see this ship. MSC are known for their beautifully designed ships. The décor is stunning and they are such good value for money. The Meraviglia will have 2 covered promenade areas featuring dining and entertainment venues. There will be a water park and the inside promenade will feature a giant LED screen the digital sky which will transmit events, sunsets, sunrise and starry skies. There will also be the exclusive yacht club area.
MSC Seaside
This will debut in November 2017 and will have a capacity of 4140 passengers. This will home port in Miami and according to MSC will be a game changer. The Seaside promises to bring guests closer to the sea with a unique waterfront promenade that will wrap around the deck. This will features restaurants, shops and sunbathing areas with a panoramic lift with breathtaking seaviews. They will also offer one of the largest and most interactive aqua parks at sea. This will be the first ship to offer slide boarding technology , combining a slide and interactive game.
Viking Sun – October 2017 and Viking Sky – February 2017
The passenger capacity is just 930 so if you prefer smaller ships this will be perfect. They will r Al Fresco dining and will have lots of outdoor space on the sun deck which is sometimes a struggle on larger ships. The vessel will also feature a promenade which fully encircles the ship. Viking include all wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner and also include shore excursions. Viking have traditionally been a river cruise line for many years but I have had excellent feedback from passengers about their ocean cruise product.
Silver Muse
This will debit in Spring 2017 and the passenger capacity is much smaller at just 596. This is the ultimate in luxury 6* cruising. With Silversea you get all drinks and excursions included in your price and your very own butler.
