Majestic Princess is the brand new ship currently being built for Princess Cruises Asian market.
This doesn’t surprise me as the Far East is the fastest growing cruise destination with so many different and exciting itineraries available to book.
Princess have just announced that it will be the first ship in their fleet to debut a new livery design featuring the company’s logo.
The design symbolises the smooth and flowing gracefulness of ocean waves and represents the excitement and adventure of discovering new destinations.
Princess are known for their wide range of itineraries and are a destination leader in the cruise industry. They now call at 360 ports worldwide with a huge number of calls in their Asia program.
The fact they have specifically designed a ship for this market shows that the Far East is growing more in popularity and the demand is there.
I recently joined a cruise in Singapore to Malaysia with Royal Caribbean. I was surprised to find the cruise had been adapted so much to cater for the Asian market as I had assumed that a Royal Caribbean cruise experience would be the same on any of their ships but with different ports of call.
I can understand why it is adapted as the majority of the passengers were Chinese with different interests. The bars and open deck were very quiet and there was no need to get up early to reserve a sunbed on this cruise. The restaurants and casino were very busy to the point where there was only standing space in the buffet dining.
So hopefully the fact that this new ship is being specifically designed for this area of cruising will eliminate these small problems and make for a more relaxed and enjoyable cruise.
I have been lucky to travel around the world and the Far East is still one of my favourite destination.
I love the character and excitement of places such as Bangkok and the exotic beaches of the beautiful islands.
There are so many places I have not been to so I would hope to be able to go back and try something new.
