>Last week we started what I thought would be a small project of home improvements but has since escalated into more major work.
It started a few months ago when we decided to have a porch added to the front of our house.
I was getting fed up of the mess from shoes and coats left all over the place so thought this would solve the problem.
The porch is almost finished now and I am really pleased with it, already it has made such as difference.

I then mentioned to my husband that although I love my house and where we live i really wish we had a utility room.
This fell on deaf ears until I suggested we could also use this room to put toy storage and hence clear out all of the toys from our living room and dining room and also from the kid’s rooms as their cupboards are now full to bursting.
As the toys really annoy him he agreed to my idea so now we have an internal wall knocked through into our garage and a door knocked through the external wall on the other side both of which are boarded up until they come back to fit the doors in a couple of days.
This is all that is seperating us from the garage at the moment.

Normally this would have been ok but as we are having unusually cold weather for this time of year it hasn’t been very pleasant in our house over the weekend and is probably the reason why I now had a cold !!
As soon as the doors are fitted my husband will be able to do most of the extra work as he is a carpenter so he will put up plasterboard walls and get this rooms converted into a nice utility/storage room.
Looks like Easter weekend will be spent working on the house but I’m sure it will be worth it in the end.
We have just paid the final balance on our holiday so the thought of a few weeks in the sun is enough to keep us going.
