Cruising for the new year

With the festive season nearly here I am sure everyone has made their plans already for Christmas and New Year.
It is probably too late for anyone wanting a last minute cruise but now is the time to be thinking about next year or even 2018.
Last year myself and family went on a 4 night short break cruise for new year on the Ventura. I love Christmas and prefer to be at home but it always falls a bit flat between the Christmas and New Year period but having the cruise to look forward to was even more special.
The Ventura was the prefect ship for us because they have a pool with a retractable roof which mean the sea days were fun for the kids with the pool and Jacuzzi’s . They spent many hours in there and loved helping themselves to pizza, burgers and hotdogs. There is a bar with waiter service so the adults were happy too.


The cruise departed from Southampton on the 29th and went to Bruges. We were supposed to call at Amsterdam too but we couldn’t dock due to the weather conditions so stayed out at sea for an extra day. We were a little disappointed to begin with but these things can’t be helped and we had a really fun day on board instead.
It was so lovely to be in Bruges with my family. The kids loved the chocolate shops and rides and once we had finished shopping they did the ice skating in market square while we enjoyed a few prosecco’s.




We booked a taxi to take us back to the ship but it was very late so we were starting to worry about getting back on time and then it turned up eventually and we made it back on board in time.
The ship was beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was brilliant

Everyone was there to have a good time and because the children are allowed in the bars and disco areas on P&O it meant we could celebrate the new year in as a family.
