Cruise industry refugee crisis

As the refuge crisis continues concern is growing in the travel industry of the effect that this will have on tourism.
In particular it has been reported that this could have a negative effect on the cruise industry as it is ocean travel and passengers are worried about seeing refugees packed into rafts and bodies washed up ashore.
I would say that cruising is probably the best way to travel in Europe because the cruise lines will always have the option of changing their route and itinerary if they feel it is necessary for the safety and enjoyment of their passengers and crew.
If you book a holiday to a Greek Island where they are having a refugee crisis then you are stuck there with no option to move on.
Like most people I feel desperately sorry for these people who are just trying to move their family to safety. I know I would so the same in their situation. However we don’t want our holidays to be disrupted either because really there is nothing we can do apart from what we as a country are already doing to help as much as we can.
I went to Kos for my holiday this year just at the time when refugees were arriving onto this island and we were concerned. I can honestly say we didn’t see anything of this crisis and it had no impact on our holiday at all. Speaking to locals they were surprised at how much the British press had made of this and were certainly not experiencing any problems
I always speak to my customers when they return from their cruise and nobody has been affected by this. I know cruise lines have come to the rescue a few times this year but would you honestly want to sail past and leaves these families to their fate.
I am sure that it has no impact on their cruise and they saw nothing of the refugees and they will have been taken to the nearest port for the authorities to look after.
It wouldn’t stop me travelling would it stop you ?
